Itinerary

San Juan, City Tour

Reception in San Juan airport or bus station; transfer to your accommodation. In the evening you will visit the city of San Juan and its surroundings. The city of San Juan is a very charming and calm city located in a very attractive and fertile oasis, framed by mountains. In this tour you will visit the modern Cathedral, the native house of Domingo Faustino Sarmiento and its museum, the Ullum’s Dike and Zonda’s Wine-cellars where you will be able to enjoy the champagne process.

Ischigualasto Provincial Reserve or “Valle de la Luna”

Today you will travel to Valle Fertil. During the journey you will visit the “Difunta Correa” Sanctuary. According to popular legend Difunta Corrrea was a woman whose baby "miraculously" survive feeding from the woman's breast after she died in the desert of San Juan Province. After this visit you will travel towards the hotel in Valle Fertil. In the evening you will visit the Provincial Park Ischigualasto or “Valle de la Luna”, one of the big wonders of Argentina, proclaimed Natural Heritage to Humanity by UNESCO in the year 2000. Its incredible and extensive desert area formed with a great variety of colors and shapes is located in what million of years ago was an huge lake surrounded by thick vegetation, a great variety of species and animals. This park is one of the most important paleontologic beds of the world, dinosaurs, a wide variety of reptiles and also petrified trees are discovered undamaged .You will be amazed by how the combination of the erosion caused by water and wind carves different rock and stone formations such as “El gusano”, La Esfinge”, “El Submarino”, “and El Hongo”. After the visit to the park you will return to the hotel and have dinner.

Excursion to the Talampaya Park

Today you will visit the Talampaya National Park. As Ischiqualasto Provincial Reserve, this park is also a very important place because of its paleontological and archaeological richness. You will observe the erosion processes that have taken place over time and be surprised by its vertical walls and big rocks of more than 100 meters of height. The erosive forces have sculpted extraordinary formations in the stone such as in the area called "Ciudad Perdida" or Lost City which is one the main tourist attractions. Talampaya is also known for its abundant fossil beds. Scientists affirm it is here where they find the unique deposits in the world which have complete series of the original fossils of the dinosaurs. After the visit to the Park you will go back to San Juan.
